Profile:
Kia ora my name is Ayla Hoeta. I am a young Māori woman from Tainui/ Ngāti Tahinga. I possess a unique blend of skills as a recent graduate student of Communication Studies (First Class Honours) a Research Assistant at AUT University and an experienced worker in Hospitality. My expertise are in multimedia; web, video and graphic design and my passion is in Māori Development and education.
As a Research Assistant I've worked regularly with students tutoring and mentoring them in undergraduate studies. I've also assisted in lectures by preparing teaching resources for 20 – 30 undergraduate students weekly. I am committed to providing assistance to all students from both the school of Communication Studies and the Māori and Pacific department at AUT.
I often work independently and part of a team creating digital media projects for students and other projects such as eBooks, websites and marketing material. I thoroughly enjoy working in an environment where I am encouraged to learn and develop my creative and professional skills. I am passionate about education and creative technologies and aim is to contribute to the effectiveness of higher education for young New Zealanders.
I recently completed my honours thesis which focused on the social media trends of New Zealand youth in general and Māori youth in particular. The aim of the research was to explore the ways in which rangatahi/youth engage in social media for the purposes of expressing cultural identity. A full copy of my work can be accessed below to the left. The thesis title is 'Rangatahi ♥ Social Media:
A Kaupapa Māori Analysis of Discourses from Facebook Communities aimed at Rangatahi Māori'.

Interests:
I am passionate about education, Maori development, Multimedia and travel. I have travelled to 18 different countries in the last 5 years. I love exploring and experiencing different cultures. My dream is to visit every country in the world.
My biggest blessing of all, is my two children Lyronz Mikaera and Kyran Kaperiera Hoeta. I am a mum to 7 year old twin boys. They are the most gorgeous talented twin boys around. They are famously known as the Hoeta Twins. They are popular due to their various appearances on TV commercials and other TV presentations. My boys are my taonga and I love them and evolve all my endeavours around paving a path that will benefit them.
